Arnold Schwarzenegger wins by a landslide!

Former Mr. Olympia Arnold Schwarzenegger, bodybuilder's most famous personality, has now catapulted into the spotlight with his landslide win over Gray Davis. 

Governor Gray Davis, who helped to bring California to a $38 billion dollar deficit, is now out! 

Results as of 10:30pm Tuesday night, with 36 percent of the votes counted, is as follows: 

1) The California Recall question: Shall Gray Davis be removed? (with 36 percent of the votes counted)
Yes 1,714,273 - 54 percent ; No 1,449,926 - 46 percent 

2) Who shall replace him? 

Here are some of the excerpts from his victory speech.
Jay Leno introduced Arnold. And said ‘Tonight is a testament to how important an appearance on the Tonight Show can be.’ Arnold comes out with his wife, who is wearing a white shirt. Arnold is wearing a silver tie. They are in Century City, at the Century Plaza Hotel, which is in Los Angeles. 

Arnold first thanks his wife Maria, for the love and strength she has given him. ‘I know how many votes I got today because of his you. I also want to thank my current in laws, Eunice and Sargent Shriver. And also all my brother in laws and extended family. I want to thank our children, Catherine, Christina, Patrick and Christopher, even though they ask me every day ‘When is this campaign going to be over?’ 

I want to thank all the people on this campaign, all the people that volunteered, I want to thank them for their hard work, handling the phones, raising the money, the fantastic job they have done, working round the clock. I would not be here if it was not for you. 

I want to thank the people of California, from the time I have came over to this country, you have opened up your arms to me. Everything I have is because of California. I came here with absolutely nothing, and California has given me absolutely everything. And today, California is giving me the greatest gift of all. Your trust for supporting me. 

I will do everything I can to live up to that trust. I will not fail you. I will not disappoint you. I will not let you down. For two months, I have been speaking out for the need for bring back fiscal responsibly for this state. Very important to bring back trust in the government. 

For two months, I went up and down the state and listened to the people. I have heard your voices loud and clear. We have tough choices ahead. The first choice is shall we rebuilt or state together, or shall we fight among ourselves, create deeper divisions. For the people to win, politics as usual must lose. 

I will reach out to Democrats, Republicans, and Independents. I want to reach out to everybody. I want to be the governor for the people, to represent everybody. I just received a gracious phone call from David who promised me that he would work hard to make the transition smooth. I believe strongly that a smooth transition is very important for California. 

I will call tomorrow the leaders of the Legislator, both Republicans and Democrats, that I want to work together for the good of California. It does not matter whether they are to the left, the right or the center. I extend my hand to you. I need your help. Tonight we celebrate. Tomorrow the hard work will begin. 

I want to be the peoples governor. I want to represent everybody. I know that together we can do great things. I know that together we can make this the greatest state in the greatest country in the world. Thank you very much, thank you, and god bless all of you.
