 Post subject: SQUATS VS DEADLIFT
PostPosted: Sun Mar 27, 2005 6:30 pm
I ALWAYS HEAR THE SQUAT BEING THE BEST EXERCISE FOR THE BODY AS A WHOLE. BUT WHEN EVER I LOOK IN BOOKS SUCH AS, (STRENGTH TRAINING ANATOMY) IT APPEARS THAT THE DEADLIFT IN FACT WORKS MORE MUSCLES THEN THE SQUAT DOES. IN THE BOOK LISTED ABOVE IT HAS THE SQUAT DOWN FOR USING 6 MUSCLES AS PRIMARY AND 19 AS SECONDARY AND OR STABILIZERS FOR A TOTAL OF 25. BUT FOR THE DEADLIFT IT HAS 11 DOWN AS PRIMARY AND 39 DOWN AS SECONDARY AND OR STABILIZERS, FOR A TOTAL OF 50. ANY COMMENTS ON THIS?

maybe so, i do them both any way but the clean and jerk wins it for me, its a full body exercise and gauranteed to show results exspecially if your not used to doing them.

The best way to make your body produce growth hormone is to do superset - Squat + Deadlift - 4 sets of 10-12 reps

Totally agree.
But sometimes it's hard to superset those two exercises.

I prefer to do first thighs and hamstrings calves workout and then 3-5 sets of deadlifts.

It is possible . Squats you can do a variation of squats which is static lunges which you can look up for using youtube .

It is possible to do deadlift using dumbbells but it will not maximise the benefits... You could ask the fellow gymmers is it possible to share it .
